A study on the salinization of coastal water of Sidi Boughaba Lake (Ramsar site 1980) in Morocco using the characteristic reports

The Lake Sidi Boughaba is a Ramsar site (1980) located on the Atlantic coast of north-west Morocco. It oriented NNE - SSW and in secondary interdunal depression formed complex main wetlands waters this lake are deteriorating quality, with increasing salinization. To identify processes chemical reactions that govern salinization, major elements as well pH, electrical conductivity salinity were monitored during winter summer seasons years, 2016-2017 6 sites distributed throughout year. interpretation analysis data carried out using correlation chlorides, Piper diagram variation ionic ratios Na/Cl, SO4/Cl, Mg/Ca calculation saturation index. index calculated by software PHREEQC 2.8, used for modelling state minerals. results these analyzes revealed variety origins salinization waters. hydro study shows brackish too salty; they characterized sodium chloride facies. This remarkable transition mainly due to intense evaporation accentuates mineralization. values minerals show under anhydrite gypsum halite, other hand, or even supersaturation calcite dolomite. characteristic composition has two origins: ion exchange between rock-water marine influence aerosols sea spray.
